Machiko Saito

Machiko Saito is the award winning director, writer, editor and producer of short films including Premenstrual Spotting, 15 Minutes of Femme and Pink Eye.She has toured and spoken with her work that has appeared in several film festivals around the world and garnered critical acclaim in many international publications. She has been a guest speaker and panelist at venues and colleges
including: UC Berkeley, San Francisco State, San Francisco Art Institute and Tranny Fest, After studying at the American Conservatory Theater she has successfully worked as an actor in theater, film and television and has written and performed her own solo work combining text, live music, dance and acrobatics at various clubs and venues in New York and San Francisco. Machiko was also the creator, director, producer, editor and host of the television show Femme TV where she showcased international queer and transgender events, artists and their work. She is also a published photographer (Details Magazine), costume designer and make-up artist. Her latest costume designs were filmed for an HBO broadcast and she and her gender-bending make-up artistry can be seen on an upcoming episode of NBC’s "The Other Half". She has curated numerous films programmed in Europe, Brazil and San Francisco, Machiko recently screened three new musical vignettes at the Bonfire Madigan CD release party and will continue collaborating with the band for an upcoming music video. Machiko has worked with youths for the past several years in capacities including: music video cinematographer, acting workshop leader, educator of drug and alcohol recovery, tutor and teacher’s assistant.

PINK EYE (ONE LINE SYNOPSIS) The trials and tribulations of independent filmmaking provoke a high-femme on a low budget to seek oral gratification and sexual satisfaction with broken camera parts.

Synopsis: Eerie, comedic, and hard-hitting, Pink Eye is a high speed account of self induced ambition and the trials and tribulations of a real-girl drag queen's manic attempts at independent filmmaking. Pursuing the artistic process and persevering against the daily struggles to raise funds, the subject stumbles through an eclectic assortment of San Francisco employment opportunities. While simultaneously remaining the obstinate subject and ominous voyeur, this high-femme on a low budget ultimately releases frustrations through seeking oral gratification and sexual satisfaction with broken camera parts.
