Karen Vanderborght

Karen Vanderborght completed her studies in audiovisual arts at the Hoger Instituut voor Beeldende Junsten Sint Lucas in 1995. Winning the St. Lucas experimental workshop, she continued her
studies through workshops with a.o. Leslie Thornton, Johan van Der Keuken and Allison Murray. Since then she has been working on performances and installings including the trilogy “The Growth of the Wild Flesh (1996-1998).” Her work has been screened at film and video festivals internationally and is distributed by four different companies.

Currently, Vanderborght teaches video and film art at the Academy of Fine Arts of Ostend and occasionally teaches workshops at art institutes and film festivals. In addition to her moving image pursuits, Vanderborght terrorizes Brussels as DJ WenKar with the weekly radio broadcast “Storing (Disturbances)” on the free radio “fmbssl” in which non-musical themes connect the most different music genres and periods.
