Miwa Matreyek

Miwa Matreyek, born 1979.
Recent graduate of UC Santa Barbara, through the
College of Creative Studies. I have explored many
mediums but have settled on digital video and
animation, which i believe ties various mediums
together, from drawing, photography, print, to music.

I am very interested in digital video and animation,
because it allows alot of freedom and control to the
artist. Through the use of the computer, one artist
can play the roles of actor, director, cameraman,
musician, editor, engineer, etc. to create one
complete work. The mediun gives me the opportunity to
express myself in many fields, then bring it all
together in to one captivating video/animation.
Movement gives life to flat forms, causing them to
come alive.

Also, video/animation provides a changing image
similar to human thought, which makes expression
fluid and creates a more direct understanding with the
audience.
