Diane Meyer
Throughout Diane
Meyer's work is an interest in American mythos, narrative clichés,
and cinematic traditions that become restaged in unexpected ways.
Her most recent body of work, entitled, “Westward Ho,”
uses installation as a form of narrative to explore the notion of
the American West as an invented space. An immersive microcosm of
the West, the installation includes photography, film, video, and
sculpture, engaging the viewer in an on-going dialogue regarding representations
of the West and the means in which history becomes displaced by mythology.
Her work has been exhibited at AIR Gallery, NYC; The Westside Gallery,
NYC; The Society for Contemporary Photography, Kansas City; The Holter
Museum of Art, Helena; The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Gallery,
NYC; and will be included in the upcoming show, "AIM 23"
at the Bronx Museum. She recently received her MFA degree from the
University of California, San Diego and currently resides in Brooklyn.
