It’s about time: Civic activation against abuse in L.A. County Jails
the ACLU SoCal has worked to defend the civil liberties of all people as enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights through litigation, policy advocacy and organizing. Since its landmark case Rutherford v. Pitchess, filed in 1975 challenging deplorable conditions at the L.A. County Jails, the ACLU SoCal has served as the court-ordered monitor of the jails and has continued to advocate for the safety and dignity of all people incarcerated. The ACLU SoCal has joined communities across the county calling for the closure of Men’s Central Jail.
