API RISE

offered a photo booth for folks who missed senior prom or other occasion because of incarceration. Don’t have anything to wear to prom? Don’t worry, they have a rack of “quickie prom outfits and accessories” to make you feel glam.

API RISE supports the justice-impacted Asian/Pacific Islander community in the Los Angeles and Inland Empire region through culturally-sensitive direct support, education, power building, organizing, and advocacy.

Kirn Kim was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison at age 16 for the death of a fellow teen. He earned release after 20 years and became involved in justice advocacy. Kirn speaks on justice reform and cultural issues in the Asian/Pacific Islander community. He serves on the boards of API-RISE and the National Youth Justice Network.

Kristina Wong is a Doris Duke Artist Award Winner, Guggenheim Fellow, and Pulitzer Prize Finalist in Drama. She’s an internationally presented performance artist, comedian and writer whose solo theater works include “Kristina Wong, Sweatshop Overlord” and “Kristina Wong for Public Office.”
