Have you ever noticed the lions at Pasadena City Hall?
Freewaves is hosting an Instagram photo contest! Word is that there are over 150 lions throughout the Pasadena City Hall building. We are on a scavenger hunt for the most obscure lion you can find. Show us one we haven’t seen before! Take a picture of it, hashtag #PasadenaLions. Tag us, mention us @LAFreewaves. Weekly winners will be featured on our page.

Check out this awesome video footage from the official launch of Lions, Tigers, And… If you missed it, don’t worry, the sound installation is up until March 2016 and we have plenty of events coming up.
We had so much fun at our first ever drum circle last Saturday! Such a beautiful experience. We want to thank everybody that came by with their drums to spend the afternoon with us, also thanks to drummer Rasheed Ali for being such an excellent leader.
More photos are up on our Facebook page and on Flickr
If you missed it, don’t worry, we have two more coming. Next one will be January 9th. Check the full calendar of events at freewaves.org/lions.
We invite you to join us for Lunch with the Lions. We will explain our sound art installation, share the history of the building, guide a discussion among our fun simple survey questions and then record people’s responses. The lunch gatherings will take place every Wednesday at noon starting November 18th, in the Pasadena City Hall courtyard near the benches, in the midst of our installation Lions, Tigers, And… Bring your own lunch.
Freewaves is gathering interpretations on what they think the meaning is of the lions on the building. Responses will be recorded into audio clips and transcribed to become part of the finale on March 11 & 12, 2016.
Next up on the Lions, Tigers, And… calendar! Drummers and Drum Circle Devotees, join international recording artiste Rasheed Ali for a healing drum circle at Pasadena City Hall on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 1 pm. Drummers of all kinds wanted to gather people together and create a ROAR. A sound installation fills the outdoor courtyard but seeks live accompaniment for the building’s silent Lions. Bring a seat and drum.
RSVP on the Facebook event page.
During our last event, we asked hundreds of people WHY ARE THERE LIONS on the Pasadena City Hall building. People said some great things that are now up and you can read them on freewaves.org/lions under the “Responses” section.
Do you agree? Disagree? What are your thoughts? Share them with us and join the discussion via Twitter hashtag #PasadenaLions
