Ain’t I A womxn?

Ain’t I A Womxn? is part of Dis…Miss, our multiyear project of public art experiences exploring gender. This manifestation took the form of a promenade at LA State Historic Park that brought together 20 independent artists, 10 art collectives, audiences, and activist organizations to collectively expand our definitions of feminism, gender, and intersectionality.

Interactive installations, film screenings, and activists were spread throughout the park, with performances happening on the main stage. Freewaves handed out artist-designed postcards asking the public “Who Do You Worship?”, “How Does Gender Perform You?”, and “How Can Feminism Support Equality?” You can read responses here.
