Freewaves is proud to have been making public art in Los Angeles since 1989. We’ve been to Compton, Santa Monica, Riverside, the Inland Empire, Chinatown, Koreatown, Pasadena, and more, all land that is originally and still the home of the Native First Peoples of this region. Every Freewaves manifestation is different. It could be a community listening program, projecting art onto buildings, making live sculpture, a dance party, a spice market, an app for LA commuters, or simply a workshop designed to help local artists. For 35 years, we’ve been performing, dancing, promenading, demanding, singing, interacting, and ultimately connecting with our fellow Angelenos. See what it’s been like by choosing a program below.
