When putting together Out the Window, video art programming for LA buses, there were certain pieces that were deemed too… something for public viewing. So we created Uncensored, a free video art app, in collaboration with game designer Happy Dojo, to make sure this work could reach the people in another way. Uncensored presented sixteen radical video experiences about L.A., created by L.A.-based digital artists, an edgy set of animations, narratives, performances and documentaries. Artists included Skip Arnold, Peter Bill, Carolina Cayedo, Michael Mouris, Yoshua Okon, and Zig Gron.
Freewaves is currently deepening and reorganizing our archive of 35 years of public art in Los Angeles. Check back in 2025 to explore more of our history.
